HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Diocese of Harrisburg is pleased to announce that William J. Lippe has been named principal of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown. Mr. Lippe brings a wealth of knowledge, skills, and love for Catholic education to this position. He will begin his role as principal on July 1, 2021.

William has extensive experience and demonstrated leadership in Catholic education throughout his career and we look forward to having him join our Diocesan Catholic Education system,” said Bishop Ronald W. Gainer. “On behalf of the Diocese, I also wish to thank Mrs. Donna Tompkins for serving as Interim Principal of Delone Catholic for this past year. Her leadership and efforts during 2020, which was a challenging year for all schools, is a testimony to her dedication to Catholic education.”

Breen, Secretary for Education and Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese. “His experience, educational background and successful track record will be beneficial to Delone as the school strives for continued growth and success.”

Mr. Lippe, a resident of Rhode Island, received his bachelor’s degree from Babson College in Massachusetts, a master’s degree in education specializing in Education Policy and Management from Harvard University, and a master’s degree in Theological Studies from the Christendom Graduate School. Mr. Lippe served as the head of school for Saint Joseph of Cluny Sisters’ School in Newport, R.I., headmaster of Saint Michael the Archangel High School in Fredericksburg, Va., and head of the middle school for Saint Anselm’s Abbey School in Washington D.C. He is also the co-founder of Uschool.com, an educational/technology startup company. Additionally, Mr. Lippe was a Peace Corps Volunteer and worked as a rural enterprise development extension agent in Sénégal, West Africa.
