Statement from Bishop Timothy C. Senior in Response to the Commonwealth Court’s Ruling on Taxpayer Funding of Abortion

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Most Revered Timothy C. Senior, Bishop of Harrisburg , released the following statement today in response to the Commonwealth Court’s ruling on taxpayer funding of abortion:

“I am deeply saddened by the action of the PA Commonwealth Court in not only stating that taxpayers have to pay for abortions but that the right to kill an unborn child is a constitutional right. Not only is the destruction of innocent children abhorrent but forcing the faithful to fund Medicaid abortions in violation of their sincerely held religious beliefs is unconscionable. It is outrageous to think the authors of the PA constitution believed they were creating a right to terminate the life of a child in utero.”
