St. Theresa Eighth Graders Challenge ‘Men in Black’ in Friendly Basketball Game

In what was dubbed as the Shamrock Showdown, seven Diocesan priests welcomed the challenge of playing a charity basketball game against a very skilled group of Saints – the boys’ and girls’ CYO players St. Theresa Parish in New Cumberland.

The game was held at Trinity High School in Camp Hill on October 20, and it is the hope of all involved to make this game a yearly tradition. Proceeds from the game’s ticket sales were donated to the St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen, located in the Allision Hill section of Harrisburg.

The highly competitive game featured numerous lead changes as the ‘Men in Black’ team held sizeable 12-point leads twice throughout the second half. Having a distinct size advantage helped the MIB, until the Saints turned up the tempo and wore down the priests late in the game to pull out a 51-45 victory.

Priests participating included Fathers Joshua Weaver, Ben Dunkelberger, Tim Sahd, Matthew Cannon, Kenneth Roth, Thomas Meinert and Chiedozie Ononuju.
