HARRISBURG, Pa. – Today, the Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior, Bishop of Harrisburg, announced that six priests from the Diocese of Harrisburg have been named Chaplains to His Holiness with the title of Monsignor. The honor is bestowed by the Holy Father for priests who have served in an exemplary way.
Solemn Vespers to mark the occasion will be held at St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg on Sunday, May 18 at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The six priests honored include:
- Reverend Monsignor Peter I. Hahn, pastor of Saint Leo the Great Parish, Lancaster
- Reverend Monsignor Frank J. Karwacki, VF, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Mount Carmel
- Reverend Monsignor Edward R. Lavelle, retired and serving as a Defender of the Bond, Diocesan Tribunal
- Reverend Monsignor Lawrence J. McNeil, retired
- Reverend Monsignor Daniel C. Mitzel, pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Columbia
- Reverend Monsignor Edward J. Quinlan, VG, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese
