On a cold winter’s night in Middletown, people of all ages were transported to Christ’s birth in Bethlehem through the impressive storytelling and scenery of a live Nativity presented by Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish.
Guests looked on as Mary said yes to God’s plan, the shepherds rejoiced, the Wise Men made their way with gifts and God became man.
The living Nativity took place across the parish grounds along a path that included Mary’s house, a field of shepherds, the home of a scribe who wrote the words of Scripture, and the manger in Bethlehem. Live animals, children’s activities and a band added extra elements to the event.
After visiting the Holy Family by the manger, guests were invited to spend time with the Real Presence of Jesus in the church and share prayer requests.
This year’s living Nativity was the third year the parish has put on the effort as a means of bringing the light and message of Christ into the community.
