‘Rocks Solid So Far This Basketball Season

After an upset loss to Boiling Springs in mid-December, the Trinity Shamrocks boys’ basketball team has been rolling through its Mid-Penn Conference schedule. They also dropped a close game to the Saints of Berks Catholic, but convincing wins over Middletown, Bishop McDevitt and Steel-High seem to point towards another deep run in the District 3 Class 3A tournament in February and another run in the PIAA state tournament in March. Last season, the ‘Rocks lost a heartbreaking tilt in the PIAA Eastern final against West Catholic at the buzzer.

Led by junior Owen Schlager, Trinity can shoot the basketball from behind the three-point arc with deadly proficiency. Schlager recently achieved the milestone of sinking his career 1,000th point and the lefthand sharpshooter has eyes on eclipsing John Morris, Trinity’s all-time leading scorer, who amassed an amazing 2,038 points in the early 2000s.
