Obituary: Sister Rita Clare Kristoff, OPSister Rita Clare Kristoff, OP, died May 11, 2024, at St. Dominic Villa in Hazel Green, Wisconsin. She was 84.

Born Patricia Anne Kristoff in Pittsburgh in 1939, she first made her profession with the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King in Lemont, Illinois, in 1958, and earned a degree in education from St. John College in Cleveland, Ohio. She transferred her vows to the Sinsinawa Dominicans in Wisconsin in 1995.

Sister Rita Clare’s ministry was dedicated to elementary education. As a Franciscan Sister, she taught for 30 years, working extensively with children with learning disabilities. In Pennsylvania, Sister Rita Clare taught at St. Peter School in Steelton, and at St. Nicholas School and St. Ann School in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. She also taught at schools in Ohio, Wyoming, Indiana and Illinois.

As a Dominican sister, Sister Rita Clare ministered in Illinois as a teacher and as a resource person, helping students with special needs. She also served as a parish catechist.

Sister Rita Clare was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Barbara Kristoff. She is survived by several cousins and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 65 years.

The funeral Mass was celebrated May 22 at St. Dominic Villa. Burial was in St. Clara Cemetery, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin.
