For more than 12 years, Holy Angels Parish in Kulpmont has been providing a weekly meal for the citizens in this small coal region town, which is nestled between Shamokin and Mount Carmel. Each week, some 175 people are fed a meal prepared with tender care by a team of Holy Angels parishioners dedicated to helping the community. Not only is the meal prepared, it’s also delivered to the homebound in the town that has about 2,500 residents. On a hot July 8, kielbasa sausage and noodles were prepared for the nearly 50 people who were served in the parish hall in a sit-down, friendly atmosphere.
In addition, the parish provides baskets of food and household items for the needy in the community. The team of Elaine Baksi, Theresa Rousesky, Ron Valaia, Joann Shinskie, Tina Treese, Mary Ann Katkhick and Caleb White all work together to prepare, deliver and serve the needy of the community.
