Members of Knights of Columbus Council 1426 of Corpus Christi Parish in Chambersburg presented a $3,000 check and a collection of baby items to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Harrisburg on May 23, to benefit the women and babies at Lourdeshouse.
The check for $3,000 was contributed from funds raised through the council’s “baby bottle campaign,” which encouraged parishioners to fill bottles with loose change and dollar bills. Members of the council also presented a collection of infant clothing, blankets, bibs and other items, donated by members of Our Lady of Refuge Parish in Doylesburg, which is a mission of Corpus Christi.
Lourdeshouse is one of Catholic Charities’ three residential programs. It provides specialized, comprehensive maternity care to women to ensure the health of the mothers and their babies, and assists women with securing counseling, job placement and housing.
