Go Behind-the-Scenes of Holy Family Radio during Station’s Upcoming Open House

Meet station personalities, tour the studios and see Holy Family Radio programming in action during a special upcoming Open House event on Thursday, August 24.

In celebration of its 12th anniversary of bringing Catholic news and programming to South Central Pennsylvania, Holy Family Radio WHYF AM720 is opening its doors to the public, inviting them to get a behind-the-scenes look at the area’s only Catholic radio station.

The Open House will take place from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the station, located at 8 West Main Street in Shiremanstown. The event is free and open to the public, and is a way for station personnel and volunteers to connect and celebrate with listeners.

“We want to welcome our listeners to come and see the behind-the-scenes of what we do,” said station manager Joe Nebistinsky. “Come see us, meet us, take a tour. We’ll have hotdogs cooking on the grill, as well as drinks and door prizes as we open up the doors to the station.”

Visitors will get a chance to meet program hosts and see what a typical day is like at the station, as it broadcasts local shows and EWTN programming over the radio waves and through its streams and podcasts.

“The station will be operating as usual the day of the Open House. It will be like a typical day here,” said senior producer and host Joe Murphy. “Depending on when visitors come, I might be in the studio, or we’ll have EWTN broadcasting, or we might be recording a show. Whatever we’re doing, you’ll see it all, live.”

Since it’s first on-air date a dozen years ago, the core mission of Holy Family Radio has remained steadfast: “Embracing the call of Vatican II for lay evangelization through the power of the media…utilizing radio broadcasts to provide, through prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Truth of the Holy Catholic Church for the nourishment of our Catholic family and to share our faith with others.”

Starting out solely at 720 AM on the radio dial, the station has expanded its reach through the digital realm. Listeners can now tune in live at www.720whyf.com, download the Holy Family Radio WHYF app from your app store, or listen to its programs via podcast.

As an affiliate of EWTN, the station broadcasts EWTN programming such as daily Mass, “Catholic Connection” with Teresa Tomeo, “Women of Grace” with Johnette Benkovic Williams, “Kresta in the Afternoon” and “Catholic Answers Live.”

Local programming remains a hit with listeners too, with shows like “Candid Catholic Convos,” “Knight Talk,” “The Family Show,” “In the News,” “Minute Meditations,” “Reflections from the Heart,” “Central PA Voices,” “Positively Pro-Life” and “Lifelines.”

The founders, board members and on-air personalities at Holy Family Radio invite you to celebrate with them as they mark 12 years of nourishing and sharing the faith. Stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on August 24 and see what Holy Family Radio has to offer.

“We welcome you to see what we do, and how we’re part of your community,” Nebistinksy said.
