St. Patrick Parish in Trevorton will have its annual festival, August 7 and 8 from 4-10 p.m. at the Trevorton Community Park. The festival features a free children’s bounce house and obstacle course, games for adults and children, food, ice cream, desserts, basket and cash raffles, cash and gift card Bingo and a tent of books and puzzles. Friday entertainment by Heaths Gym Dance Group from 5-6 p.m. and the Memory Lane Band from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday entertainment by Hawk Mountain Highlanders Bagpipers from 5-6 p.m. and the Looker Band from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Catawissa will have its 59th annual parish picnic, Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8, from 4-10 p.m. on the parish grounds. Enjoy two evenings of delicious food, from our famous pigeons and potato cakes to haluski, sweet Italian sausage, our popular BBQ and more. Don’t miss the church bake sale, homemade rice pudding, and hand-dipped ice cream for a special treat. Live entertainment includes Crazy Eddie & the Coal Dockers on Friday and The Lucky Afternoon Band on Saturday. Kids can enjoy games and face painting. Plus, there will be basket raffles, a money wheel and other exciting giveaways.
Holy Spirit Parish in Palmyra will have its annual SpiritFest on August 7 and 8 from 5-10 p.m. Friday will feature bands Mockingbird (5-7 p.m.) and Uptown Band (7-9:45 p.m.) while Saturday will feature Michael Dobson Band (5-7 p.m.) and Katz22 (7-9:45 p.m.). Our popular SpiritFest Cookout and Pig Roast will be offered on Friday evening, and delicious ethnic foods will be featured on Saturday. St. Catherine Labouré Parish will have its 11th Annual Dinner on Derry: Food Truck Festival on Sunday, August 16, from 1-6 p.m. on the parish grounds. Enjoy a delicious variety of food from returning favorites and new vendors, including gourmet crab cakes, fresh pasta and meatballs, loaded nachos, artisan grilled cheese, pizza, French fries, smoked specialties, funnel cakes, milkshakes and more. St. Ann Byzantine Catholic Parish in Harrisburg will have its annual Slavic American Festival, Saturday, August 22 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Enjoy great homemade eastern European food to eat in or take out. Continuous entertainment, games for young and old, church tours, world class iconography, basket raffles and Bingo. The gift shop will also be open.
