Festival at San Juan Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Hispanic Charismatic Renewal

The sounds of praise and worship music and the smell of ethnic food filled the air at San Juan Bautista Parish in Lancaster on Saturday, August 19, as faithful flocked to the parish for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

The Charismatic movement is an ecclesial movement in the Church that calls attention to the work of the Holy Spirit and encourages the faithful to be renewed in His gifts. The celebration at San Juan followed the Diocese’s first-ever Hispanic Charismatic conference, held in July at the Diocesan Center.

The daylong festival featured various food kiosks and vendors with religious items, a concert by Ark of Alliance Prayer Group, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the celebration of Mass.
