Efforts of Knights of Columbus Council 14081 of Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Harrisburg and the St. Thomas More Society of Central Pennsylvania this season resulted in the installation of a Nativity scene on the grounds of the state Capitol in Harrisburg prior to Christmas.
Senator John DiSanto said that, to his knowledge, the crèche is the first one to be erected on the grounds, despite previous efforts over the past few years.
“I saw a St. Thomas More Society e-mail a few years back detailing how they were trying to get Nativity scenes displayed in all state Capitols. To date, I believe 34 states are now doing this,” Senator DiSanto said. “I thought it would be a nice addition to the Menorah, Christmas tree and reindeer displays on the Capitol grounds.”
