The Harrisburg Guild of the Catholic Medical Association will host the annual White Mass at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, Harrisburg, on Sunday, October 31 at 9:30 a.m. Bishop Ronald Gainer will be the celebrant. In these challenging times, now more than ever, Our Lord seeks to refresh and sustain those serving others in illness and suffering. The White Mass provides an opportunity to gather in solidarity and fellowship. Physicians will recite their oath of care at that time. Attendees are welcome to wear their white coats and uniforms. A reception will follow the Mass so that healthcare professionals may meet and learn more about the Guild. While the guild is physician led, all medical professionals and their families are welcome. As part of the national Catholic Medical Association, the Harrisburg Diocesan Guild seeks to serve medical professionals, particularly doctors, in upholding the principles of the Catholic Faith in the science and practice of Medicine. Participating in the Harrisburg Guild provides faith formation, education, and advocacy, particularly in respect to conscience protection.

The Lebanon Deanery Youth Mass, Fall Deeper in Love with Jesus, will be Saturday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 2596 Cornwall Road, Lebanon. St. Joan of Arc Parish, Hershey, will hold their annual Rosary Rally at Our Lady of Grace Grotto on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 12:30 p.m. This weekend event is in conjunction with more than 20,000 America Needs Fatima Rallies held throughout our country in support of the 104th Anniversary of Our Lady’s message of Fatima and for the Nation and World Peace. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel will honor COVID-19 front line workers, those who have died from COVID and all Veterans at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Nov. 7. The parish is also collecting photos, brief stories and personal reflections about lost loved ones and experiences during the pandemic for a time capsule. Beginning September 11, articles for a time capsule can be placed in a basket in front of the altar. All are encouraged to submit their stories. Stories should be submitted prior to Nov. 7.

St. James Parish, Lititz, is hosting the Vatican International Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles of the World. This exhibit displays the histories of actual events where the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist was made visible to our earthly senses and showcases, through photos, more than 170 Church approved Eucharistic Miracles. The exhibit will be open on Tuesday, October 12 from noon to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, October 13-14, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, October 15-16, from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, October 17, from noon to 7 p.m. The presentation may be viewed by entering through the St. James Parish Hall entrance, located at the back of the church. Forty hours of Adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist will be held in the main church for Catholics, beginning on Friday, Oct 15. The exhibit is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 10827, as well as Holy Family Radio (AM 720), Lancaster Catholic High School, and the Lancaster Region Order of Malta. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
“Clouds” author Laura Sobiech will speak at St. Joseph Parish in Hanover on the weekend of Oct. 9-12. Laura is the mother of Zach Sobiech, who died in 2013 at the age of 18 from osteosarcoma, a rare children’s bone cancer. Last year, Disney+ showcased his story in the movie “Clouds,” which is based upon Laura’s book: “Clouds: a Memoir,” the story of Zach’s four-year cancer journey. The Cumberland/Perry Deanery 2021 Day of Prayer and Care will be Saturday, Oct. 23, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 310 Hertzler Road, Mechanicsburg, from 1 to 4 p.m. This annual event provides caregivers with an afternoon of respite, connection, inspiration, and support. A Beginning Experience Weekend for those suffering the loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation will be hosted by the Diocesan Beginning Experience Team at Camp Kirchenwald, Lebanon, Pa., Nov. 12-14, 2021. The ecumenical Beginning Experience weekends are an approved program of the Church. Hundreds of persons have been helped to move towards successful, productive, happy lives by attending one of these weekends. The weekend is led by persons who have lost a spouse through death or divorce and are trained in facilitating a weekend. Each Beginning Experience Team is certified by the International Beginning Experience Organization. Beginning Experience is under the auspices of the Diocesan Office of Catholic Life and Evangelization. It is your Church at work to provide help, healing and spiritual restoration. The International Committee of the Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women is again hosting a Diocesan-wide Boxes of Joy campaign for Cross Catholic Outreach. Every parish and member of our Diocese is encouraged to participate in this project. A Box of Joy is a specially designed shoebox that you fill with toys, school supplies, clothing, hard candy, personal care items, and accessories. The ability to operate a backhoe is highly desirable. Other equipment that will be used: tractor, pickup, mowers and a variety of small equipment related to cemetery maintenance and operation.
