The annual Sanctity of Life Mass hosted by the Lancaster Region of the Order of Malta will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. at St. John Neumann Church in Lancaster. The celebrant and homilist will be Bishop Mark Brennan of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, with Bishop Timothy Senior as concelebrant. The Order of Malta is a humanitarian organization that provides medical, social and humanitarian assistance, focusing on the sick, poor and marginalized communities.
The Harrisburg Diocesan Guild of the Catholic Medical Association will host the annual White Mass for Healthcare Professionals at St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey on Sunday, October 19, at 9:30 a.m. Bishop Timothy Senior will be the celebrant. The White Mass provides an opportunity for all Catholic physicians, healthcare workers, medical students, residents, and their families to gather in solidarity and fellowship. Members of the Guild will renew their annual promises. Attendees are welcome to wear their white coats and uniforms. The annual Mass for “Father Walter Ciszek Day” in Shenandoah, Pa., will be Sunday, October 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Casimir Church. Bishop Ronald Gainer will be the homilist for this year’s Mass, with a social following in the parish hall. The Mass and events surrounding it remembers the American Jesuit priest who conducted missionary work in the Soviet Union before being imprisoned in solitary confinement and labor camps. The Lutheran-Anglican-Roman Catholic (LARC) Day of Dialogue on Nicæa 1,700, will take place Wednesday, November 5, at the Diocesan Center in Harrisburg from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for fellowship. Holy Infant Parish in Manchester will host Part 1 of the Level 1 Formation Course for adults interested in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a hands-on approach to the religious formation of children inspired by Montessori methodology. Catechists are specially trained in the guiding principles of the philosophy in a retreat-like atmosphere, allowing for the contemplative nature of work as prayer. The course begins on Saturday, November 1, after the 8 a.m. Mass and ends at 4:30 p.m. The remaining sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on December 13, January 10, January 31, February 28, and March 4. March 21 has been reserved as a possible snow make-up day. A $50 registration deposit is due to Holy Infant Parish by October 24. Total tuition for Part 1 Level 1 of the formation course is $200, including the deposit. For each additional registrant from the same parish, tuition will be discounted to $185. Participants will be able to continue their training by registering for Part 2 of the Level 1 course which will be held in the summer of 2026 at St. John the Baptist School in New Freedom. Internationally acclaimed organist Vincent Dubois will perform at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lancaster on Sunday, October 26, at 4 p.m. for an event of the Lancaster Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. A French concert organist, Dubois is one of the three titular organists at the famed Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Known for his dazzling technique and deeply expressive interpretations, Dubois has performed in major concert halls and cathedrals around the world, captivating audiences with works by Bach, Franck, Widor, and Messiaen. His Lancaster recital will feature a program that showcases the grandeur and nuance of the organ. The event is free, but an offering will be taken.
