The Harrisburg Guild of the Catholic Medical Association will host the annual White Mass at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, Harrisburg, on Sunday, October 31 at 9:30 a.m. Bishop Ronald Gainer will be the celebrant. In these challenging times, now more than ever, Our Lord seeks to refresh and sustain those serving others in illness and suffering. The White Mass provides an opportunity to gather in solidarity and fellowship. Physicians will recite their oath of care at that time. Attendees are welcome to wear their white coats and uniforms. A reception will follow the Mass so that healthcare professionals may meet and learn more about the Guild. While the guild is physician led, all medical professionals and their families are welcome.

The next Caelorum at St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey will be Wednesday, November 10 at 7 p.m.  Join your brothers and sisters in Christ as we come together to adore, praise and worship our Lord and Savior. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel will honor COVID-19 front line workers, those who have died from COVID and all Veterans at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Nov. 7. The parish is also collecting photos, brief stories and personal reflections about lost loved ones and experiences during the pandemic for a time capsule. Articles for a time capsule can be placed in a basket in front of the altar. All are encouraged to submit their stories. Stories should be submitted prior to Nov. 7.

St. Katharine Drexel Parish Council of Catholic Women invites you to a Service of Remembrance of Deceased Loved Ones on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. You are invited to bring a picture of your loved one to be placed by the altar. The Prayer Service will be held in the church at 1 Peter Drive, Mechanicsburg.

Education & Enrichment

The Order of Malta runs a Pen Pal Program for those in prison and is seeking volunteers to write to inmates. The effort takes a few minutes and a stamp every month. The program is anonymous and presents volunteers with a way to be true to our call to visit Christ in prison. To express interest, please reach out to Maltapenpalprogram@gmail.com. The Order of Malta will provide all of the necessary support and direction.

A Beginning Experience Weekend for those suffering the loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation will be hosted by the Diocesan Beginning Experience Team at Camp Kirchenwald, Lebanon, Pa., Nov. 12-14, 2021. The ecumenical Beginning Experience weekends are an approved program of the Church. Hundreds of persons have been helped to move towards successful, productive, happy lives by attending one of these weekends. The weekend is led by persons who have lost a spouse through death or divorce and are trained in facilitating a weekend. Each Beginning Experience Team is certified by the International Beginning Experience Organization. Beginning Experience is a ministry of the Diocesan Office of Catholic Life and Evangelization. Knights of Columbus Council 12788 in Mechanicsburg is sponsoring a “Nite at the Races” on Nov. 6 in the cafeteria of the Life and Education Center at St. Joseph Parish in Mechanicsburg. Doors open at 5 p.m., with first post time at 5:30. All proceeds benefit funds for the center’s new roof. Admission is $5, Veterans are free if accompanied with paying customer. Mary Gate of Heaven Parish in Myerstown is hosting a Fall Fest, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. More than 30 vendors and crafters will help you get ready for the holidays, including handmade jewelry and stationery, crafts and sweets, as well as booths from professional businesses. Breakfast and lunch items will be available, including Padre’s Chili, haluski, pierogies, baked mac and cheese, hotdogs and drinks. Event will also feature a bake sale and basket raffles. Knights of Columbus Council 1426 in Chambersburg will host a Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 at 336 E. Garfield St., Chambersburg from 1-3 p.m., or until the candy runs out. Event is for children under the age of 16. We ask that children be dressed in costume. Parents, guardians or grandparents will drive into the main parking lot entrance from Garfield Street, follow the cones to the side door, then exit onto Blanchard Ave. The  Knights will hand bags of candy through the window of your vehicle. No need to get out of your vehicle for this event.

Knights of Columbus Council 13451 of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in New Holland’s Wreaths Across America sale will take place after Mass the weekends of Nov. 13-14 and Nov. 20-21. These wreaths will be placed at headstones during ceremonies at Indiantown Gap National Military Cemetery on Saturday, Dec 18 at noon. St. Joseph School in York will host an Information Session and Open House, Nov. 3 from 6-7:30 p.m. for current and prospective families. Our Mother of Perpetual Help School in Ephrata will host a Virtual Information Session for families interested in learning more about OMPH School’s full-day Preschool and full-day Kindergarten programs. The session will be on Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Those attending the virtual session will hear from school leadership and OMPH Preschool and Kindergarten teachers about the importance of Preschool education in preparation for Kindergarten, STEM activities during a typical day in Kindergarten, and more. Recital featuring Dr. David O’Donnell, tenor, Christyan Seay, tenor, Matthew A. Robinson, baritone, and Daniel Dorty, accompanist, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Mechanicsburg on Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. The recital will feature opera, operetta, musical theater and sacred song selections. Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be taken up during the performance. Dr. O’Donnell is the Director of Music at St. Patrick Parish in Carlisle, Mr. Dorty is the Director of Music at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, and Mr. Robinson sings as soloist and cantor at four local parishes within the Diocese.

Prince of Peace Parish-Assumption of the BVM Church is sponsoring a “Trunk or Treat” on Saturday, Oct. 30 from noon-2 p.m. The event will be in front of the Parish Center at 815 South Second Street, Steelton, Pa.  All children are invited to stop by and pick-up a special treat from the “Great Pumpkin.” There will be lots of goodies so don’t forget to wear your Halloween costumes.

One Voice Regional Youth Ministry has a number of events planned through the end of the year. They include an overnight exploration of homelessness, famine and poverty, discussions on various issues facing teens today, a youth rally and a Christmas party. The Columbiettes of Saint Joseph’s, Auxiliary #12788, have published a cookbook in honor of the 70th anniversary of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg. The cookbook costs $12, features 233 recipes collected from the Columbiettes and parishioners, and includes the history of the parish and a special 70th anniversary message. To purchase a cookbook, please contact Diane Freundel at dianefreundel@gmail.com. St. Patrick School in Carlisle is looking for a motivated leader to oversee its before-school and after-school childcare program, CARES. Position is full-time, year-round with benefits.
