Education & Enrichment
The Order of Malta runs a Pen Pal Program for those in prison and is seeking volunteers to write to inmates. The effort takes a few minutes and a stamp every month. The program is anonymous and presents volunteers with a way to be true to our call to visit Christ in prison. To express interest, please reach out to Maltapenpalprogram@gmail.com. Lancaster Catholic Young Adults will meet for Theology on Tap, Nov. 16 at Arooga’s on Centerville Road. Father Brian Olkowski, pastor of Assumption BVM Parish, will speak on “The Middle of the Torah,” revealing the deep secrets of the book of Leviticus. The evening begins with a happy half-hour at 7 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7:30, with a Q&A to follow. Must be 21 or older to attend. The Notre Dame Chorale will commence their 2022 Winter Tour with a performance at Saint Patrick Cathedral, Harrisburg, on Monday, Jan. 3. The Chorale performance will begin at 7 p.m. This is their first performance as part of the Winter Tour, which is leading up to the Chorale’s international tour in May 2022. The Chorale is being hosted by the Notre Dame Club of Harrisburg. The event is free but donations will gratefully be accepted.
Join Holy Spirit Parish’s SHINE Faith and Fitness Exercise Ministry to step into Thanksgiving healthier! Together, we’ll team up for 12 days to focus on improving health, share in prayer and begin a healthy habit, just in time for the upcoming busy holiday season. The Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will have a baby shower for their Spiritual Adoption Program, Nov. 20 from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Diocesan Center in Harrisburg. The council began its Spiritual Adoption Program nine months ago to pray every day for the more than 100 babies in danger of abortion. The baby shower will collect items to be donated to pro-life organizations within the Diocese. The shower will also include games and refreshments.
