The 2022 Lutheran-Anglican-Roman Catholic Day of Dialogue will be held on Thursday, January 13. Our topic this year will be Dismantling Racism, featuring the Rev. Dr. Teresa L. Smallwood (Franklin Kelly and Hope Eyster Kelly Associate Professor of Public Theology) and the Rev. Dr. Rodney Smalls (pastor of Macedonian Missionary Baptist Church in Harrisburg). St. James Parish in Lititz will host a “Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus” presentation on Sunday, January 9 at 3 p.m. St. James parishioner Patrick Cloonan will speak about being one of only 50 students selected worldwide by the Jewish National Fund to go to Israel to participate in their annual Caravan for Democracy Mission. He spent 10 days exploring all aspects of the country, including the Holy Land religious sites. Join us as Patrick shares his experience and reflections “walking in the footsteps of Jesus.” Patrick is an historian, accomplished speaker, and honors graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Knights of Columbus Council 10502 at Holy Spirit Parish in Palmyra will host a local March for Life on January 21 in conjunction with the March for Life in Washington. The day will begin with a rally at noon in the parish’s Agape Hall with a viewing of the livestream of speakers in Washington. A one-mile march to the square in Palmyra will take place at 1:30 p.m., where the Rosary will be recited before returning to Holy Spirit. Light refreshments will be available after the march. St. Joseph Church in York will host Epiphany Concerts at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 7 and Saturday, January 8, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 9. The Notre Dame Chorale will commence their 2022 Winter Tour with a performance at Saint Patrick Cathedral, Harrisburg, on Monday, Jan. 3. The Chorale performance will begin at 7 p.m. This is their first performance as part of the Winter Tour, which is leading up to the Chorale’s international tour in May 2022. The Chorale is being hosted by the Notre Dame Club of Harrisburg. The event is free but donations will gratefully be accepted.
Boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited to participate in the annual free-throw shooting contest sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 10502 at Holy Spirit Parish in Palmyra. The competition will be held on January 30 at 1 p.m. at the Palmyra High School Gym. Masks are required for all spectators and non-participants. This is a free, annually sponsored event, with winners progressing through local, district, and state competitions. All boys and girls ages 9-14 years old are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent.
