Young adults ages 18-39 are invited to the Diocese’s annual Get Connected Mass and Cookout, Sunday, September 7 at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Harrisburg. St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Lancaster will host a Vietnamese Experience Dinner to benefit Big Hug, Inc., on Saturday, September 27. The sit-down dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and includes appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Big Hug, Inc., is a charitable organization that partners with local churches to help feed the hungry and homeless. York Catholic is hosting a Futures Marching Band Camp on Saturday, September 6, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. for any student in grades 4-6 who has played a band instrument for at least a year or who would be interested in color guard. Students will have the opportunity to play level-appropriate Marching Band music, as well as learn basic drill techniques and basic color guard techniques with a little fun thrown in. A mini-show for parents will take place at 1:45 p.m. Lunch, snack, flipbook, lyre and music will be provided. Cost is $25 per child. York Catholic’s Varsity Cheerleaders will be hosting a Futures Cheer Clinic for students in grades K-6 on Saturday, September 6, from 9 a.m.-noon in the gymnasium with a showcase of what was learned performed from 11:45 a.m.-noon. Participants will learn cheers, chants and a dance. K-6 cheerleaders who participate will get an opportunity to join the varsity squad on the sidelines at the YC football game on October 10. The Schola Cantorum of the Diocese of Harrisburg welcomes interested choral musicians to join the ensemble by attending upcoming vocal placement auditions for the 2025-2026 season. The ability to operate a backhoe is desirable but training will be given. Must be a good team player who is able to take direction and demonstrate tact, courtesy and diplomacy. Applicant must have valid, clean PA driver’s license. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. This is a manual position requiring physical fitness with the ability to lift (up to 50 lbs. regularly), bend, stoop, climb and be mobile (on your feet) for most of the day.
