A Tear Drops Service for those whose loved ones no longer practice the faith will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Church in Mechanicsburg on August 23 at 2 p.m. We will gather and pray together in petition that those we love come back to Jesus and His Holy Catholic Church. The Life-Giving Wounds online healing retreat for adult children of divorce or separation to deeply reflect on the wounds caused by their family’s breakdown and find healing alongside other peers who truly understand this pain, will take place Wednesdays from October 7 through November 18 from 8:15-10 p.m. The retreat includes meditations, small groups, Q&A, Visio Divina, and retreat guide/journal. Early-bird pricing, offered through September 22, is $200 for adults ages 26+ or $110 for adults ages 18-25. The Diocese of Harrisburg will host a Youth Conference on Christ the King weekend for all teens in grades 7-12. The event will take place on November 21 at Good Shepherd Church in Camp Hill. Check-in will begin at noon, with the event beginning at 1 p.m. There will be speakers, breakout sessions, Adoration (with praise and worship), service opportunities, Mass with Bishop Timothy Senior, dinner, games, dancing and more! The Northumberland Deanery is sponsoring a retreat, “Serenity in the Midst of Chaos: O Lord, My God, in You I Take Refuge,” on Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish Hall, Coal Township. The retreat will feature a keynote presentation by Father Manny Vasconcelos, OFM Conv., along with inspiring sessions by Deacon James Lawson, Father Manny and Father Matthew Morelli. Together, they will reflect on opening ourselves to God’s will, navigating the challenges of social media and artificial intelligence, and living lives centered on what is good, beautiful and true. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for quiet prayer and reflection. The cost is $15 per person, which includes a hot lunch and refreshments throughout the day. A retreat day for deaf Catholics, “God Wants to be Your Best Friend,” will be offered at St. Joseph Parish in Mechanicsburg on Saturday, October 24. The Knights of Columbus’ Silver Rose in affirmation of the sanctity of human life is visiting various churches in the diocese August 26-29. The Silver Rose is one of several that travel various routes throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. Through prayer services and individual prayers during the visits, the faithful turn to the Blessed Mother to pray for an end to the culture of death and for the protection of human life. Young adults ages 18-39 are invited to the diocese’s annual Get Connected Mass and Cookout, September 13 at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Harrisburg. York Catholic is hosting a Futures Marching Band Camp on Saturday, September 5, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. for any fourth, fifth or sixth grade student who has played a band instrument for at least a year or who would be interested in color guard. Students will have the opportunity to play level-appropriate marching band music and learn basic drill techniques and basic color guard techniques with a little fun thrown in.
