Upcoming opportunities for adult formation in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) will be offered at St. John the Baptist in New Freedom, and Our Lady of the Visitation in Darnestown, Md. This course is a spiritual formation experience for adults as well as instruction in the pedagogy and catechetical approach of religious formation of children within the CGS model. These courses offered will focus on the youngest child, 3-6 years old. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based method of religious formation for children (3-12 years old), which seeks to create and facilitate a sacred, hands-on space for children called an atrium. In the atrium, both the children and the catechists hear, ponder and celebrate the most essential mysteries of the faith. The catechist’s own in-depth formation is essential in order to guide meditations on biblical themes and liturgical signs that will lead the youngest child to know the person of Jesus and his great love for him/her. The course grounds the adult in the theory and praxis of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd while also concretely preparing her/him to develop and facilitate an atrium for 3-6 year olds. St. John the Baptist in New Freedom will host an adult formation course in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) this summer. The course sessions are scheduled for June 15/16, 29/30, July 6/7, 19/20/21, and August 10/11. For additional information, please contact Sister Jane Keller, SSJ, at 717-235-2439 or email@example.com. Our Lady of the Visitation in Darnestown, Md., will host the adult formation course meeting once a month (11 Saturdays) beginning August 19.
