On Mother’s Day last year, the Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women began a nine-month spiritual adoption program to pray for babies in danger of being abortion, and for their mothers.
To celebrate the lives of 52 babies for whom they prayed throughout the past nine months, members of the council gathered for a baby shower at the Diocesan Center in Harrisburg on February 4.
The baby shower collected a multitude of infant-care items – including clothes, blankets, diapers, formula, health-care items and toys. Attendees celebrated with games and refreshments after they unloaded the gifts, which were generously donated by parishioners through council-sponsored collections at the parish level.
The donated items will benefit the Life Pregnancy Care Center in Millersburg.
The spiritual adoption program is an annual activity of the Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women’s Community Concerns, Family and Legislative commissions. The next spiritual adoption program will begin on Mother’s Day in May. Visit the Council’s website, e-mail hdccwcommunitycommission@gmail.com or call Alycia at 570-590-1116.
