Masses & Prayer Services A Mass to honor first responders and health care workers will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard of St. Joseph Parish in York, on Sept. 11 at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Church. Active and retired police officers, firefighters, EMTs, nurses and doctors will be honored at the Mass.

Masses & Prayer Services A 30th anniversary Mass for Sister Mary Catherine Rose Giacobbe, the first hermit Sister in the Diocese, will be celebrated Aug. 14 at 9 a.m. at St. Lawrence Chapel in Harrisburg. Bishop Ronald Gainer will be celebrant for the Pontifical High Mass, and Sister will renew her vows. All are welcome to attend the Mass, and to send prayer requests to Sister at www.flowerofcarmelhermitage.org.

Masses & Prayer Services The Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius will have a special Memorial Mass for the SSCM Sisters who died during the pandemic. The Mass will be celebrated July 10 at 2 p.m. in the Basilica of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Danville by Bishop William Waltersheid, Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh.

St. Thomas More Feast Day Mass, June 22 at 8:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church in Camp Hill. The Mass is sponsored by the Saint Thomas More Society of Central Pennsylvania, an organization of Catholic lawyers, judges, public office holders, paralegals, legal assistants, and law students. The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Ronald Gainer. The purpose of this Mass is to gather to pray for God’s guidance and to invoke blessings, through the intercession of Thomas More and John Fisher, upon those who work in the administration of justice or government. It also marks the start of Religious Freedom Week.

Masses & Prayer Services Join the Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women in a virtual Rosary every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. extend an invitation for all to join us as we come together to pray the Rosary over Zoom and by phone. If you are unable to join via Zoom or phone, join spiritually by praying the Rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Diocesan Notebook – April 29

Education & Enrichment Diocesan Office of Vocations’ bi-monthly Zoom discernment group. Young men (junior year in high school through young adults) are invited to take part in this online discussion. To register, e-mail the Office of Vocations at vocations@hbgdiocese.org with a valid e-mail address and mailing address so that the discussion material may be mailed. The Zoom discernment group meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 8-9 p.m.

The deadline for submissions to the biweekly Notebook/Parish Obituaries listing is every other Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Please refer to the Publication Schedule for edition dates and deadlines.
