After celebrating Holy Mass for the students, faculty, parents and parishioners of Harrisburg Catholic Elementary School at St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg on Nov. 1 – All Saints’ Day – Bishop Ronald Gainer, along with Father Joshua Brommer, rector and pastor of the Cathedral, joined the school community in the signing of a steel beam before it was lowered into the ongoing construction project at the school located directly behind the Cathedral.
Bishop Gainer signed his name beside all the students’ names in permanent ink marker – the beam will be easily visible in the school’s completed renovations so that future generations can mark this moment in time in the school’s history. The signing culminates the near completion of Phase One work on the school, which began at the end of the school year just after Memorial Day last spring.
Two more phases remain in the construction and renovation process of the school and are scheduled to begin in the near future. Harrisburg Catholic features two campuses, currently with grades K-4 at the Holy Family Parish campus. Grades 5-8, along with the school’s Pre-K program, are located at the Cathedral campus.
